OMEGA’s Role in Appalachian Projects

for the Region

Annually, OMEGA solicits project proposals from throughout the ten-county region.  Selected proposals form OMEGA’s priority package and include education, health, and infrastructure type projects.  OMEGA provides technical assistance for applicants in the completion of their grant applications and subsequently forwards them to the Governor’s Office of Appalachia and/or the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) for funding.

Since the ARC’s inception in 1966, OMEGA has assisted in obtaining over $70 million in ARC grant awards.  The ARC funding has in turn leveraged over $137 million and has greatly contributed to the quality of life and well being of citizens in OMEGA’s ten-county district.

Contact the OMEGA office for more information on the ARC grant program and its eligibility requirements.
